Coming Agustus 21st, Alexandre Moratto’s debut feature film Socrates will be released in the United Kingdom by Peccadillo Pictures. It’s coming to streaming services and virtual cinemas.

Socrates tells the story of the 15-year-old Socrates who lives on the margins of São Paulo’s coast. After his mother’s sudden death, he must survive on his own. As he faces isolation because of his sexuality, his search for a decent, worthy life reaches a breaking point.

Socrates is the debut feature film from Brazilian-American director Alexandre Moratto. It is the first feature produced by the Querô Institute in Brazil where it was co-written, produced, and acted by at-risk teenagers from local low-income communities, with the support of UNICEF.

The film’s main character is played by Christian Malheiros. The cast also includes Tales Ordakji (as Maicon), Jayme Rodrigues (as Robson), Vanessa Santana (as Social Worker), Rosane Paulo (as Dona), Caio Martinez Pacheco (as Chicão), Andrielly De Melo Chaves (as Adryanna) among others.
