Netflix released David Dobkin’s new slapstick comedy film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. The film, based on the popular singing competition Eurovision Song Contact, tells the story of the two aspiring musicians Lars and Sigrit. When they are given the opportunity of a lifetime to represent their country at the world’s biggest song competition, they finally have a chance to prove that any dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for.
The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual singing competition in Europe. Singers from different countries represent their country in the world’s biggest non-sports TV show. The festive competition is a celebration of joy, camp and music which is very popular by the LGBTQ+ community.
The wacky comedy’s main characters, Lars Erickssong and Sigrid Ericksdottir, are played by Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams. The film also includes Dan Stevens (as Alexander Lemtov), Mikael Persbrandt (Victor Karlosson), Pierce Brosnan (as Erick Erickssong), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Neils Brongus), Melissanthi Mahut (Mita Xenakis) among others.
